Patong Merlin Hotel - Buildings 1 - 6

Hi,

We have 5 ground floor pool view rooms booked for late Dec / early January (12 of us travelling) and have liaised with the hotel and requested building 4 or 5. They are not able to accomodate our request and I suspect we will receiving building 1, 2 or 3. I understand building 6 is the reception area and do not have ground floor rooms.

My question is:- I read somewhere on the forum that the swimming pools near buildings 1, 2 %26amp; 3 are built up (not at ground level) and would appreciate anyone who has stayed at this hotel recently to advise how high the swimming pool is (do you just walk up a couple of steps). We were hoping to be able to sit out front of our room near the pool and monitor the children if they were in the pool and also allow the older children to return to the room on their own if they wanted to watch a dvd / play playstation etc.

Any information will be very much appreciated. My virgo nature will not just allow me to wait and see, and I seem to have this urge to organise every itsy bitsy detail prior to departure, it drives my partner crazy. :)

If you are not in buildings 4 or 5 you are not be able to see the pools from ground level. You will need to go up to the pool areas to supervise your children. You need to walk up 4 or 5 steps to get to the pool area from the ground floor rooms.

Conversely you are not able to look down on your rooms from the pool area. If you go to www.phuket-photos.com and scroll down the left hand side of the screen until you reach the Patong Merlin there are about 50 photos for you to peruse of the resort.
