Leaving for Phuket in 5 weeks still have not confirmed accomodation travelling with our 9 and 11 year boys. They like to keep active, I guess we like snorkelling etc but we want to see a little culture too. If we stay in Laguna, are we far away from the main shopping etc and are the meals and drinks expensive compared to Patong. Previously we%26#39;ve been to Fiji and love the laid back island life.

Laguna Beach Resort v Horizon beach resort patong
Hi, we have a son 11 too, and (two girls) and are staying at the Allamanda laguna resort in 6 weeks time and have heard that the resort prices for food and drink are very expensive. There is a town nearby that will have supermarkets and places to eat but I don%26#39;t think the shopping is quite like it is down near patong/karon/kata. Bang Tao beach out the front of the laguna resorts have many beach shack resturants right on the beach which will be much cheaper for your meals (or so I have been told!). The laguna resorts are apparently quite out of the way which is why we decided to split our stay in two and are staying in Karon for our second week.

Horizon Beach resort is really close to everything, across road from beach. It has a kids room with computer games, tv and dvd player and also playground equipment. I have posted a bit of a write up on it under the hotel review section, but if you go you will not be disappointed.

We stayed at the Horizon with 11, 12 and 14 year olds... they all loved it. It is in the middle of everything... but once inside the hotel grounds it is peaceful and laid back.... great location! I would say that kids would enjoy Patong better... well I know my kids would.
You will have fun either way!
