Can I get to beaches from Bangkok?

I am planning to go to Bangkok. It will be a low budget trip, but I am very much hoping to see some nice beaches. I understand that Bangkok is a city, I was just wondeing if it%26#39;s possible to take a tour or a day trip to one of the beaches? Is there one that close? Is Phi Phi beach close to Bangkok?

Phi Phi means a flight to Phuket and there are several Budget airlines doing that route and then by boat to Phi Phi.

From Bangkok you can bus easilyto various beach areas.

Longer journies will get you to place to hop on the boat across to Koh Samet, further down Koh Chang.

Nearer to bangkok beaches are either south East to the east side of the Gulf of Thailand or south down the west side of the Gulf.

Getting south to the east side Pattaya is a City on the water but if you go north to Naklua you can find cheap budget accommodation within a walk from the beach, beyond Pattaya is Jomtien beach which is a lively beach resort but quieter than Pattaya and again cheap accommodation very easy, beyond Jomtien there are scattered beach areas but not so much accommodation.

Down from Bangkok on the west side of the Gulf you can go by bus or train, Cha Am is a about 2.5 hours, Hua Hin ( busy town ) about 3 hours, but just 10 minutes from town past Hua Hin there are quieter beaches where you can find cheap budget accommodation near the beach, beaches then down the coast Pranburi, Kui Buri to Prachuap and onwards to Bang saphan, Koh Talu island etc.

Day trips would be rushed but bus fares are cheap, train fares cheap also, and 300-400 Baht will get you a room, from B 600 plus air-con with own h/c shower etc.

Plenty of cheap accommodation both down the east and west side.

USD 25 will get you by overnight or daytime bus and ferry all the way to Koh Tao island as an example.

The beaches down south can be better but that means a flight, you %26#39; can also get buses but they take about 13 hours from Bangkok to Phuket and then the boat ride.

Can I get to beaches from Bangkok?

Thank you for your help. When I get to Bangkok will I be able to find these opportunities easily or should I seek out the travel agencies?
