Tedkarma or Arandora -- can you walk to Merlin from BKL?

Hi Ted %26amp; Arandora,

My husband and I are debating Baan Khao Lak vs. Samui Paradise Chaweng, and I need to know if we can walk from BKL to the Merlin to see the elephants bathing in the sea (thanks for telling me about this Arandora). My sons will vote with me if we can either walk or get a quick taxi.

Our marriage should survive either way, but I%26#39;d really like to win this one (and avoid Samui).

Quick and easy taxi - no problem.

Walk? Maybe more like climbing. At the south end of NangThong Beach - on some maps called Sunset Beach - there begins a stretch of what can be steep rocky areas. One would need to go along a good stretch of that to get to Khao Lak Beach (where the Merlin is located). Notice the the relative distance you would need to traverse - on the map located here:

Chaweng v Khao Lak? Chalk and cheese springs to mind!! The former now very commercialised, the latter like Chaweng was before it was spoiled IMHO.
