Review of Baan Karonburi Hotel - Karon beach

Hi, I see that Baan Karonburi does not have its own page on TA so I shall post my review here.

We booked a superior room at Baan Karonburri for 3 nights in November 2006. It is located right opposite a quiet and pleasant stretch of beach in Karon and travelling time to Patong and Kata is about 15-20 mins each. We took a metered taxi at the airport for 460baht and the ride took approximately 45 mins. The hotel looks ok from the exterior but inside we found it to be quite old. The new hotel right next door seemed more attractive. The bed in our room was slightly uncomfortable and our 2nd floor garden view was marred by a giant tree right next to our balcony. The layout of the room is slightly odd, there is no ';doorway'; hence 1 side of the bed faces the door directly. Also, there were only 6 satellite TV channels, including Thai, German, French and Japanese channels, and that leaves us with just 2 to choose from. Breakfast was mediocre. They could improve on the variety, as well as staff service. I wouldn%26#39;t return to this hotel during my next visit.

Hi,

Thanks for the update. I have just booked to stay at the karonburi hotel based on some feedback on this Phuket forum, as well as from Phuket Richard.

Has anyone else stayed there recently? Thanks - K

Hi there, if you%26#39;re planning to stay at Karon I would recommend Woraburi, which is next to Baan Karonburi. In any case, have a good trip! Weather%26#39;s great now!

We looked at this hotel, and The Princess and anything else close by an felt they were all too close to each other and your room view might be obscured by the hotel next door. Some of the photos looked like you were looking at the walls of the next resort. Not sure the Hilton is much better either, so am going with an open mind, and planning lots of day trips whilst there.
