Bangkok Marriott Resort & Spa - Is it Too Far out of Town?

I am thinking about staying at the Bangkok Marriott Resort %26amp; Spa. On the map it looks far down the river and isolated?

What do you think of the location? Is it convienient to all the attactions. What about getting to and from the hotel at night? How long does it take to get to the night market?

An suggestions on best location - area and hotels .. Thanks

Hi ReedG,

We just got back from Thailand 2 days ago, and stayed at the Marriott for the last 2 days. It is a lovely hotel, and the little shuttle boat that takes you to the main pier is great. However, for what we were doing it was just a bit too inconvenient. We spent most of our time away from the hotel so never managed to enjoy the pool or other facilities. And as we were running about between tailors and opticians, all on the Sky Train route, it was just a bit more of an added hassle to have a half hour ( if you just missed a boat, which uncannily we always did) tagged on to the journey.

For us, it didn%26#39;t work out very well but it was a lovely hotel. Maybe if you%26#39;re just going to chill a lot in the pool area then it%26#39;s great but if you%26#39;re only there a few days then I%26#39;d book a hotel near a Sky Train stop to make life easier.

I must agree with Artemis- we stayed for 6 days in September and absolutely loved the hotel - everything about it is beautiful. but, it is further out than most other popular hotels. We also missed the free shuttle boat by about two seconds a few times and it is quite annoying to have to wait another 15 minutes for the next one.

When I next visit BKK I would consider staying there for a couple of days, and maybe another couple of days in a more central hotel.
