hat yai

drove from Penang to Hat Yai, took 1 hour from Batu ferringhi by ferry to Butterworth, another hour to Alor Star and another hour to Hat Yai. Border crossing a nightmare as the Thai officials do not speak a word english and send you from pillar to post, took all in all 1 hour to get passports stamped + car papers fille out etc. etc. take out extra insurance as the Malay insurance does not cover Thailand, cost for 10 days RM16. No signs or very, very few directing a tourist to Hat Yai. We reached the markets in Hat Yai around lunch time, just unbeleavable, had the time of our lives! Excellent produce, beautifully displayed and the prices, well, what can I say, cheap, cheap, cheap! Next time we%26#39;ll stay over night and do a bit more exploring. On the way back we dropped of at some rubber plantations, for a European it is awsome to see how and where the latex comes from. People extremely friendly and hospitable, and feeling safe, no problem what so ever!
