Where to stay in Phuket?

Hi everyone!

I am looking to book a resort in Phuket in April after 5 days in Bangkok. We are two couples in our mid twenties. We want to have both quiet time of the beach/pool at a resort but also be close to nightlife and other activities.

We are looking at Thavorn Beach Village and Spa as one of the options. It is not right on Patong Beach, however. Has anyone stayed there? What are your thoughts?

Can someone also suggest a 4-5 star resort that would be good for our age group? Many thanks!

Where to stay in Phuket?

Hi Kroshkaxx

Well... I have done some extensive research, having only been twice before to Phuket. We are planning on staying at the Patong Bay Garden Resort in September.

We have chosen this resort as it %26#39;is%26#39; right on the beach (there are only 2 resorts right on the beach in Patong I think and the other is very expensive). It does not look fancy, but the location must be number one.... there is some feedback on the review site.... all good!

We are travelling with couples in 40%26#39;s, and many 17, 18 19 year olds..... Bangla Road is almost directly opposite!

We like the smaller hotels (where they are not too strict on drinking your own drinks etc around the pool) from all reports this hotel is like that.

I am sure that what ever hotel you choose you will have a great time, you couln%26#39;t not in Phuket, it is majic!!!!!!!!

Best of luck!

Where to stay in Phuket?

Hi just returned from Phuket yesterday and stayed at Thavorn Beach for 6 nights with my 20 year old son- who enjoyed the hotel and Patong. After 4 days in Bangkok- do please try and vist the Tigers a real experience to pat a Tiger.

It is a quiet resort good to be out of Patong- go to the noise.

Breakfast is excellant

24 Hr room service

Maid service good

Beautiful site.

On the beach- not the most stunning in Thailand, but pleasant.

Reception staff polite, helpful, friendly and professional

It is 10 minutes from Patong by cab- current cost (negotiable) 200 bht ew maybe less in April

Pool is amazing- not deep chest high on 6ft tall, but meanders for what seems miles- the website pictures do not do it justice. A great swim place.

We had a poolside villa , comfortable and well furnished. Good bed.

I could not see anything that was ugly to look at in the resort very good on the eyes. Well kept, tidy. The staff are all warm and friendly. They are a little evasive about ownership, I think there is some Japanese interest that has recently joined. I did have one complaint. The aircon did make some noise at night. The compressor seemed to kick in after 11pm. If I turned the aircon off ( I need quiet to sleep) it would still be humming. I tried to get this fixed- well it was good after night 2, but returned nights 5 and 6. I won%26#39;t take room 2222 again.

In short a great place for 20 somethings to chill and then to party in Patong. Just be sure that the room is quiet or maybe you will be to drunk to care..

Hope this helps- any more questions please let me know, if you want some pictures drop me a mail.

Regards

Dave

Club Andaman Resort is really nice. The grounds and pools are fantastic. Its over the road from the beach and about a 10 min walk to the main bar area. There is still shops, atms, restaurants etc a minute or so walk as well.

I have more info plus photos of the cottage rooms and grounds on my Phuket pages below. (Plus a few other hotels we have stayed in there)

Definatly stay at Thavorn BV........awesome place.

In 2001 we stayed 11 nights there on our honeymoon . We had a pool side villa which ment we could swim to the bar, spa and spa beds. this pool has to be seen to be believed 4500 sq metres in surface area winding through the face of the resort. plenty of nooks and crannies to have fun and unbelievable vegitation and scenery.

Eating -

The main resteraunt is pricey!! But if you are like us then you can eat in patong in the side streets for Aud $ 10 including 2 courses with a wine/beer

For breakfast we got 10 vouchers . the Buffet is a sight to see and on other days we just had brecky on our balcony.

the beach isn%26#39;t very good. but then again you have near by Patong for that that has all activies you could ask for.

Service.

Brilliant.! being honeymooners we got room upgrade with champaigne and nibbles...the spa was running and pettles spelt welcome on the bed. room service was swift and staff were seen and not heard. When we stayed the place seemed empty but was 75% full. This is due to the layout which makes you feel you are the only ones there....love it . Quiet place , 2 pools plenty of eating options and only 10mins from Patong....party central !!
