BTS to MRT transfers

Can anyone help? my wife has limited mobility so we use taxis all the time we%26#39;re in Bangkok. This time we%26#39;ll be staying near to Nana BTS and I would like to know how far it is to switch from the BTS to MRT Sukhumfit then to get from MRT Lumpini to Suan Lum night bazaar? Also are there escalators or lots of steps? Finally how far is Sala Daeng BTS from Patpong?

thanx

BTS to MRT transfers

the MRT lumpini station exit comes up right at the Suan lum night Bazaar close to the giant Ferris Wheel.

the MRT has escalators most of the BTS stations don%26#39;t but Sala Daeing does have an elevator or lift.

Sala Daeng to Patpong not that far I think 4 to 6 blocks

depends which stairs you come down.

BTS to MRT transfers

There are up escalators at most BTS stations. Although no down. There is normally some distance to walk when transfering between BTS and MRT.

Asok interchange will include the stairs from the BTS station and around 100 meters walk to get to the first escalator down to the ground level.

Be careful there are some small level changes in the floor.

On ground level there is about 5 meters to the next escalator then about 20 meters to the next escalator then there is a walk to the ticket area. After the ticket are about 5 - 10 meters to an escalator to the platform.

Most BTS and MRT trains will be standing unless your lucky.

Out of most MRT stations will be 3 escalators and some walking to street level.

A suggestion if you are going to use the BTS regularly is to buy a value ticket.

Minimum cost is 100 Baht and first time they deduct 30 Baht for the ticket. You just use the ticket and the machinery deducts the value of your trip. You can top up in any value over 100 Baht. Nice and easy and negates having to Q for a ticket every time you use the BTS.

Tickets are valid for one (maybe two) years from last refill.

The MRT also has simular but as of beginning this month no joint pass.

Patpong is a good walk from BTS along uneven pavements through stalls selling just about everything and is crowded at night would suggest with limited mobility Taxi would be best for Patpong.

Enjoy your trip

Thanks to both of you,we%26#39;ve been to Bangkok many times but never stayed in this part of town before.Taxis are fine once you get a metered one but you seem to spend most of your holiday sat in traffic jams so this time I was checking out the mass transit systems for suitability and speed. We know the area on Silom road near Patpong but I couldn%26#39;t picture the BTS station. It sounds like we stick to taxis unless I do a dummy run early on to see if wife could manage it!
