Xmas presents for teenagers in Bangkok

We have teenage relatives living in Bangkok and would like to send out a small xmas present (money). Is it possible to buy vouchers in the UK that can be used in Bangkok. If vouchers are a no go. Any ideas on how we can transfer the money [拢20] without using the banking system.

Vouchers are usually used for tax reasons, so are not often valid outside their issuing country. There are however International money orders if they still exist - ask at the post office.

The postal system in Bangkok is very reliable, and I confess I would not think twice about sending a twenty pound note inside a christmas card. They can change pounds to Thai Baht anywhere with no problem.

This is not the case everywhere though, for instance I would never trust the Pattaya postal service.

However if you don%26#39;t want to do this, then Western Union has offices everywhere here. You call them up in the UK and give them your credit card details (your bank may also be able to arrange a Western Union transfer), they will tell you the nearest office to your relatives, and you send them a special code number.

They then go to the office with the code number and their ID card to collect.
