Hotel in Bangkok - Central, Secure 3/4 star

Hi Mel

I%26#39;m staying at the Pathumwan Princess, next to the MBK centre - one of the best places to shop apparently, and with direct access.

I got a really good deal through an Oz tour wholesaler, ixplore. We have a stay 5, pay 4 deal, with a free of charge late check-out till 3pm, for the equivalent of $51.80 per night each. (2 people). Check out this hotel in the Bangkok hotels link - it has really good reviews.

The web address for ixplore is www.ixplore.com.au

Best of luck!

Kathleen

An alternate to that is the Novotel on Siam Square, the other side of Siam Square to the Pathumwan. It%26#39;s well located, very clean and warm, not brand spanking new but recently refurbished to a calm, modern decore - and has reasonable rates. The staff get to know you pretty quick and the hang around at all points of entry, we felt it would be difficult to get too far if you were unkown to the hotel staff.

I think it has good access to a better choice of food with Siam Paragon a couple of minutes away, we felt this was much better than the range in MBK.

Good luck with your daunting task of hotel choice, we were pretty clueless too, still are to a degree. It%26#39;s such a large city and we only scratched the surface.

My wife and I spent two nights at the Amari Watergate on November 1 and 2. It%26#39;s in the same area. We had a room on the 30th floor. They had an excellent breakfast buffet. It would be an acceptable alternative depending on your price range.

The Landmark was a great hotel, and close to lovely resturants etc... I would say this is quite central, very easy to get around, close to the skytrain. Lovely rooms and great breakfast!!!

Good value for money as well.

You could get swamped here.Do take a a look at the Majestic Grande. Spent 4 nights there a week or so ago with my 20 year old son. It%26#39;s in a quiet Soi. I booked via Precision, but Asia Rooms also book them. I agreed directly with the hotel for a quiet room and it was provided. Good breakfast, clean rooms and felt secure at all times.

Maybe a 10 min walk to Nana Skytrain

If you expect a large pool then this is not for you, although we had no time for swimming during our 4 days. Alex did however make good use of the Gym which he said was good.

Enjoy yourself, ps just filed a report on the Hotel should be on the site Wednesday

I would stay there again
