le meridien or movenepick

Have not stayed at the Movenepick but have stayed twice at the Le Meridien. I am a fan of the Le Meridien however without knowing what you want from a holiday it makes it hard to recomend. What I will do is outline some pros and cons for you.

Pros

Great location 5 minutes by tuk tuk to Patong for cheaper food and shopping.

Great breakfast buffet if you get it included in your deal.

Huge Huge pools so many that you Ihave yet to swim in them all

Great kids club

Beautiful beach albeit small maybe 500 metres wide.

Private beach so no hawkers free sun loungers etc

Great fitness centre

Has its own bar and has beach side food service although expensive.

If you do eat in the resort they run a discount card system ie the more you eat the less you pay

Great Service

Cons

Food is expensive if you can not be bothered leaving the resort, I think from memory it has about 11 restaurants.

Huge resort so lots of people about.

Rooms are your usual hotel style nothing special however if you can afford it I would recomend pool or ocean view.

Being a huge resort means lots of kids about (some people find this annoying if they want r %26amp; r but has not bothered us 30 somethings on both trips)

Resort rooms a bit dated I think it is about 20 years old or thereabouts.

We love the resort and I regularly recommend it to our friends who have all enjoyed themselves also. I think since the Bali bombings it has become one of the Australian replacement resorts so it seemed alot busier when we were last there.
