Know the site and that they also do the carribbean on a website called the carribbean collection, I haven`t used them though. I have used Travelmood.com though (they regularly advertise in the Times Newspaper). They got me a really good deal last year and provided an excellent service.

You could also try Hayes and Jarvis as they are well established and gave me a very reasonable quote.

Hope this helps

Hi, We used Global Travel to Koh Samui in September, unfortunately they really messed up the holiday, Onward flights were not booked and the hotel in Bankok hadn%26#39;t been booked.

When we arrived at the airport to return home we were told that we were not on the flight. I had to get 拢1000 from different cash points from different accounts and credit cards to get home.

I have received less than I paid to get home from global, no real explaination and they are supposedly still investigating what happend to the hotel bookings.

They are not members of ABTA or anything else offering consumer protection. The airline membership they quote is only for travel agents and offers you no protection. It was only when I told them I was about to file in the small claims court that I received any money at all. Its up to you but I would give them a wide berth.

Pay a little extra and ensure you can relax. I was fortunate that I was not desperate for the money but I am sure some people would struggle to put food on the table if they had to wait over 30 days to get their money back.

good luck

I kwould know nothing about them.

However, what I %26#39;would say%26#39; is that these days you really do not need a travel agent for most places and certainly not for Thailand ( in fact on another subject it has been discussed where someone in Australia just could not get any decent information from a travel agent)

I %26#39;do%26#39; use a travel agent to book international flights, but I find the flights I want first and then get them to deal with it.

A travel agent outside Thailand can find you a cheap flight, and if anything like ANZ, North America etc and i guess Europe they can find the cheap air fares.

But that is realy it! You don%26#39;t need a travel agent to organise transfer, and you can book your hotel online with local companies or direct to the hotel.

So there really is nothing they can help you with. It is different if you wanted a packaged tour around China or something but if you are heading somewjhere like Samui, just check the press for cheap air fares, you can book Bangkok-Samui flights online with Bangkok Airways.

On arrival use the local transport, or, if you wish, any hotel or accommodation wlll pick you up ( for a charge ) if you want that.

There are so many airlines flying between Europe and Bangkok it must surely be very competative, then use places like this forum to find ideas about the best hotel and that is really it.

becca, here%26#39;s a tip:

Check press for cheap fares to Bangkok, or check with a main travel agent for those fares, see what is on offer, find a good deal.

See what the air fares are Bangkok to Samui return from bangkok Airways website.

Add those fares together ( guessing there are 2 of you ) and minus that from whatever package deal they are offering.

Then take what is left and divide that by number of days and see what you are paying per night for your hotel, then check the local hotel booking services for Samui for whatever hotel you have been offered and then see whether the deal is good or not.

or just come back and tell us the hotel and some of us can give you an idea of what the local prices would be for that hotel or resort.

You may of couse already have done that and so forgive me if you have, but %26#39;do%26#39; remember that packages are usualy priced %26#39;per person%26#39; whereas hotels would charge %26#39;per room%26#39; based on twin/double.

Also %26#39;watch out%26#39; for things like Breakfast %26#39;not%26#39; being included, or tax and service %26#39;not%26#39; included as most local Thai sites include all that.

hi

thanks for the tips

have decided not to go with them as have got a better quote from somewhere else and now after reading what they are like would not book through them anyway
