Ko Lanta or Krabi Ao Nang?

Hey All,

We are arriving in Thailand on 4th September. We have been debating weather to go to Ko Lanta or to stay on Krabi mainland/ Ao Nang?? We love the look of Ko Lanta as it is isolated and beautiful... but dont want to be somewhere where its difficult to travel from. We want to book into one hotel and do lots of day trips to Phi Phi %26amp; surrounding islands. I hear that Ao Nang is the best place to hire boats and go for day trips from... is it easy enough to do this from Ko Lanta too?

Some help would be great!!! Thanks!

Ko Lanta or Krabi Ao Nang?

I would not go as far as saying Lanta is isolated....

it is beautiful though and worth a visit.

You can easily hire boats etc from Lanta.

Ko Lanta or Krabi Ao Nang?

We arrive in Krabi on the 5th of sept, and have yet to travel to Koh Lanta,Ao Nang will be really quiet as it%26#39;s low season. We prefer it that way.Easy to get excursions e.t.c.

Koh Lanta virtually closes down for the low season as far as the restaurants are concerned so whilst there may be places to stay offering cheap deals, the evenings will be decidely quiet. Ao Nang is still quite busy for the low season with lots and boats going out every day, weather permitting!

hiya..l was with a group of friends in koh lanta last october/november...the weather was great, the odd bit of rain but nothing to cause a problem..we stayed at a place called D.R.Lanta,bungalows 900bht p.n.incl,of breakfast for a clean a/c bungalow on the beach, they have a wonderful pool, the food was good, the staff very friendly and helpful..they have a couple of tuk tuk to ferry you to the village and back,20bht which takes about 5mins,they are located on the north east of the island which is the busiest streatch of beach in koh lanta terms!and thats still very quite!!we intended staying a few days and ended staying 2weeks!!! very convenient for trips to other islands, great rustic cheap restaurants and very very chilled!beach thailand like it used to be!! ps they have a wonderful husband and wife team who do massage 200bht,some of the best massages l have had!

Thanks for all the advice!

PS: Evaair.... where do we go for this wonderful massage?? Sounds good!!

Have any of you been to Sea Sand Hotel on Railey beach... heard it was really nice!

Thanks again....

hiya..the couple who do the massages are at the DR Lanta bungalows, the lady who is,should i say quite mature gives a fantastic massage...l too am going to railay beach in october, and am torn between sand sea which is on the west beach,or the tropical which is on the east side..lm not getting any good reports at all about the sand sea, food, service, etc.if you do get any info please let me know...thanks

the wonderful massages can be found at DR Lanta bungalows, there is a lovely thai couple who work there, the lady gives the better massage....l to am going to railay, and have not heard very good reports about the sand sea,the tropical on the east side sounds a lot nicer...please let me know what reports you get back on both hotels..thanks

We%26#39;re considering Koh Lanta from about the 8th Nov. Is this still classed as low season or will it be busier by then?

hi there, just wandering how your hols in was?did you go to koh lanta?

Hi, yeah we did and had a great time - it was very different to the other places we visited but very relaxing. I%26#39;m about to post a trip report actually - have a look!
